IBM FlashSystem 9100
IBM FlashSystem 9100 systems combine the latest IBM Spectrum Virtualize, IBM Storage Insights, and IBM FlashCore to enhance storage capabilities. Available on August 29, 2018, they are IBM’s first NVMe-based, all-flash, software-defined storage solutions. NVMe stands for Non-Volatile Memory Express. This interface protocol accelerates the transfer of data from enterprise systems to solid-state drives (SSDs), which brings extremely low latencies to multi-cloud environments.
The product comes in two different flavors, the FS9110 and the FS9150. They both share NVMe 2.5 inch FlashCore modules and dual-active controllers, but the FS9110 operates with dual 8-core processors and the FS9150 operates on a higher level of performance with dual 14-core processors.
Both the FS9110 and the FS9150 include:
- Support for 24 NVMe flash drives (each 2.5 inches)
- 8 10 Gb Ethernet ports
- 2U, 19-inch rack mount enclosure
- 3 I/O adapters for 16 Gb Fibre Channel (FC) + 25 Gb iSCSI connectivity
FlashSystem 9100 systems are highly scalable and can cluster together to deliver greater performance. For example, a clustered system can hold up to four FlashSystem 9100 systems and 3,040 drives. FlashSystem 9100 systems can be an addition to existing clustered systems that include Storwize® V7000 systems.
FlashSystem 9100 comes with multi-cloud software designed to support data driven architectures across clouds. Moreover, these NVMe cloud-enabled software solutions will aide in the modernization of your organization’s infrastructure with features like data protection and disaster recovery.
IBM FlashSystem 9100 integrates with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus and IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management in order to secure and reuse data, as well as steer data efficiency within a multi-cloud infrastructure. Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud uses real-time replication to copy primary data from FlashSystem 9100 to IBM Cloud. Spectrum Copy Data Management creates snapshots of that data.
In addition, IBM Storage Insights in included at no charge, and provides a single interface dashboard for your your IBM block storage. This tool helps you make decisions to better your storage health based on performance trends.
To sum up, consider unlocking the power of your data with IBM FlashSystem 9100.
